General Questions About Radon
    • What is radon?
      • Radon is a radioactive gas caused by a natural decay of uranium in the soil.

    • What types of homes have high radon levels?
      • All homes.  Radon levels can be found in new and old homes as well as homes with or without a basement.

    • How does radon accumulate in your home?
      • Radon comes in through the cracks in the floor and foundation, utility lines, sewer lines, and/or utility trenches.

    • Why is radon considered dangerous?
      • The EPA says that radon is a radioactive particle that is breathed into the lungs.  According to http://www.cancer.gov, this makes radon the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States.

    • What is considered to be safe radon levels?
      • There are no "safe" radon levels.  The EPA says that if a home has a radon level of 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) or higher, it should be fixed; even though every level has some risk.  Our goal is to make the radon level as low as possible.

    • How does a radon mitigation process work?
      • In a nutshell, we tap into the soil beneath the home and create a continuous suction or vacuum that safely discharges the radon gas outside the house.
